Hi, I'm Laura Joy Pewitt!
I am a children's writer and an early childhood educator with a passion for children's literature. For over 30 years, I taught young children. Now, as an author,I enjoy making school and library visits! .As a teacher, I believe the best way to support a child’s education is to read aloud and discuss good books together. It’s also important to get outdoors to play and explore. The brain grows on what it’s fed, so feed it well with conversation and experiences. My creative ideas for stories often come to life when I am walking outdoors, hiking in the woods, strolling along the beach, or relaxing on my front porch swing in Tennessee. A favorite quote of mine from an unknown author states, 'Don’t shine so that others can see YOU, shine so that through you, others can see HIM.'
